Tourists find the most impressive place at the castle, the second largest castle area in the Czech Republic (the largest being Prague castle), where the castle interior is well worth seeing. From the St. Vitus's Church tower is also very impressive view over the unique scenery of Renaissance buildings, which is made even more spectacular by the Vltava River, which weaves its way through the town. The baroque castle theatre is dated to the last decade of the 17th century and it received its look in the year 1766 from the Joseph Adam von Schwarzenberg. Then the theatre went through some reconstruction and at present belongs to the nicest theatres in our republicAnother unique place is the theater, which is located in marvellous and romantic surroundings of the castle garden. The most important thing is that there is revolving auditorium, so spectators could enjoy the magnificent nature scenery of the castle park.
The
construction of the Church of St.Vitus dates back to the year of 1340 and was
completed after the Hussite wars. St. Vitus Church is presently used for
religious purposes. Classic music concerts are occassionally held here as well.
The Egon Schiele art centre is a gallery exposing a fascinating
permanent collection and world-class temporary exhibits. The visitors can enjoy
seeing exhibits from famous artists such as for example, Dali, Chagall, Picasso
or Keith Haring.
